우분투(리눅스)에서 BIOS 또는 UEFI 펌웨어를 업데이트하는 과정은 메인보드 또는 시스템 제조사에 따라 다를 수 있습니다. 일부 제조사는 Linux 환경에서 직접 펌웨어를 업데이트할 수 있는 도구를 제공하지 않기 때문에, 다른 방법을 사용해야 할 수도 있습니다. 하지만, 최근에는 많은 시스템에서 UEFI 펌웨어 업데이트를 위한 표준화된 접근 방식을 제공합니다. 여기에는 fwupd 도구를 사용하는 방법이 포함됩니다.

fwupd를 사용한 BIOS/UEFI 업데이트

fwupd는 Linux Foundation의 LVFS(Linux Vendor Firmware Service) 프로젝트와 함께 작동하여 여러 제조사의 펌웨어 업데이트를 지원합니다. 이 도구를 사용하면 우분투에서 직접 BIOS나 UEFI 펌웨어를 업데이트할 수 있습니다.

 

1. fwupd 설치: 시스템에 fwupd가 아직 설치되어 있지 않다면, 터미널을 열고 다음 명령어로 설치하세요.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install fwupd

 

 

2. 펌웨어 업데이트 가능 여부 확인: 설치된 fwupd 도구를 사용하여 시스템의 펌웨어 업데이트 가능 여부를 확인합니다.

fwupdmgr get-devices

 

 

이 명령어는 시스템에 설치된 펌웨어와 업데이트 가능한 펌웨어 장치 목록을 아래와 같이 보여줍니다.

4. 펌웨어 업데이트 실행: 사용 가능한 업데이트가 있다면, 다음 명령어로 업데이트를 실행합니다.

아래와 같이 실행되며, 중간중간에 y와 비밀번호를 입력해야합니다. 업데이트가 끝나면 시스템이 재부팅됩니다.

fwupd를 사용하면 대부분의 경우 사용자가 BIOS/UEFI 펌웨어 업데이트를 쉽게 수행할 수 있습니다. 하지만 모든 제조사가 LVFS를 지원하는 것은 아니므로, fwupd를 사용할 수 없는 경우에는 제조사의 지침을 따라 다른 방법(예: FreeDOS를 사용하거나 직접 제조사의 도구를 사용)으로 업데이트를 수행해야 할 수도 있습니다.
